The BBC reported last week on a study by Which? revealing that consumers can save thousands of pounds by switching to greener home appliances.

The more efficient washing machines, tumble dryers, fridges and freezers can enable hugely significant reductions in running costs. However, the machines themselves tend to be more expensive to purchase at the outset than the less efficient models. The BBC says that charities feel that “the luxury of buying the most efficient appliances – often more expensive – was likely to be beyond the reach of those on low incomes’.  They went on to say that “charity StepChange described a “poverty premium”, saying people often went into debt after unforeseen expenditure on things such as replacing broken white goods’.

There are solutions to these issues. With the majority of people now citing sustainability as a deciding factor in choosing their appliances, rental provides an alluring alternative to purchase. It gives the consumer access to the latest technology and most efficient machines without incumbent costly upfront payment.  This makes cost and planet conserving machines more accessible to all. Furthermore, rental customers can rest assured that there will no unforeseen expenditure on broken goods. With rental, service and repairs are carried out at no extra charge for the life of the contract.  It is no wonder that rental is a becoming an increasingly popular lifestyle choice. It is better for the planet, better for household budgeting and better for customers’ peace of mind.
